You will need an appointment to attend our Resource Centre, friends and family are also very welcome to come along. Please contact us to book your appointment.  We have appointments available each Monday.

At this Resource Centre, your knowledgeable Sight Loss Advisor will offer information, advice and guidance on how to address the challenges sight loss can pose.   

The Resource Centre has a display of equipment that can be demonstrated. The Community Sight Loss Advisor based here each Monday can help you to identify what daily living equipment might be useful to help you remain independent. Additionally, they can:  

• Suggest ways of managing at home. 
• Help you understand your eye condition and explain the registration and certification of your sight loss. 
• Advise on how to continue reading. 
• Offer guidance on getting out and about and maintaining your independence. 

• Support and advise you on the use of everyday gadgets such as mobiles and tablets. 
• Introduce you to specialist electronic magnification equipment. 
• Let you know about socialising opportunities in your area and online. 
• Advise on finances and employment issues. 
• Tell you about further services we offer including our twice-yearly magazine and monthly e-newsletter, and let you know about any upcoming events taking place. 
• Signpost you to other organisations that may be able help you. 
• Tech support is also available at this hub / Resource Centre. Please contact us to book an appointment if you would like assistance or training on how to access the online world.

The consultations space is in our Thornbury Hub – there is a charity shop at the front and the room for sight loss advice appointments is on the first floor. We have a stair lift installed to increase accessibility. If you feel that you would struggle to access this room, please do contact us and let us know as it will be possible to arrange your appointment at Thornbury Library which has level access.
