Virtual Hubs for Every Stage of Life, Including Our New Young Adults Group

Navigating life with sight loss is not always easy but connecting with others who truly ‘get it’ can really help in many ways. Alongside our in-person social groups at our community hubs, we offer four virtual hubs that bring people together from across our regions. These online meetups provide a relaxed, friendly space where you can share experiences, swap tips, or enjoy a chat with others who face similar challenges.

Our virtual hubs are all about building connections. Whether you’re looking for new friendships, conversation, or just a sense of community, these groups offer a welcoming environment where you can feel understood.

A partnership between Sight Support West of England, Wiltshire Sight, and Insight Gloucestershire, our virtual hubs are open to anyone affected by sight loss across our regions. Sessions take place on Microsoft Teams and are led by volunteers who have personal experience with sight loss, ensuring each group is supportive and relatable.

Our Virtual Hub Groups:

  • Parent Support Group: For parents of children with visual impairments up to age 25. Meets fortnightly on Thursdays at 7:30 pm. Hosted by Becky.
  • University Students Group: For those over 18 studying at Level 4 or above. Meets fortnightly on Wednesdays at 7 pm. Hosted by Saud.
  • Working Age Group (age 25+): Meets on the third Thursday of every month at 7 pm. Hosted by Karen and Tanvir.
  • Young Adults Group (ages 18–30): We’re excited to announce our brand-new Young Adults Group, launching on 5th March at 7 pm! This group will meet fortnightly and is a fantastic opportunity for young adults living with sight loss to get together online. Hosted by Amber.

How to Join a Virtual Hub

Joining is simple – just get in touch and let us know which group interests you. There’s no need to commit to every session; you can join whenever it suits you. If you’re new to Microsoft Teams, we’ll provide training to help you get started, and even if it’s your first time attending, you’ll find a friendly group ready to make you feel at home.

These hubs are a great opportunity to meet new people, share experiences, and build connections – all from the comfort of your own home, with no pressure or obligations.

To get started, contact us on the details provided at the bottom of this page.  Your hub host will look forward to welcoming you into the group!
