We would love for you to join us at BAWA Health & Leisure Club on the 9th of October between 10.00 am and 3.30 pm (last entry 2.45pm) for our next Eye Can exhibition.

Eye Can Bristol is a free exhibition that provides an opportunity for anyone living with sight loss, along with their friends and family, to find out about the latest technology, equipment and services that are available.

The exhibition will have a wide range of exhibitors covering many interest areas. These include technology, sport & leisure, health & well being, and children, young people, and families.

10:30 am Ask The Expert: Amar Shah

Amar is a Trustee for Sight Support West of England and a leading Optometrist working in the West of England and will be taking your questions and helping to correct any myths around sight loss and explaining the support and treatment that is out there.

11.45 am Yahya Pandor

Yahya Pandor, newly appointed Engagement Manager for the South West at the Sight Loss Council, is a trained counsellor and renowned advocate for the blind. Blind himself, Yahya will share his story, discuss how he recently set a new world record, and explain how he lives well with sight loss. He will also answer your questions.

1:30 pm Ignite Bristol – low intensity chair-based fitness taster session

Come and take part in this free chair-based, low-intensity fitness taster session. Instructors are experienced at supporting blind and partially sighted individuals within their sessions and will adapt the activities to your level to ensure everyone is having fun! No equipment needed and please wear clothes that you are comfortable in.

How to get to BAWA Health & Leisure Club

BAWA Health & Leisure Club, 589 Southmead Rd, Bristol, BS34 7RG

By bus

The Y6 bus stops on the road outside BAWA. This is an hourly bus service that travels from Bristol Bus Station, or if travelling from the opposite direction, Chipping Sodbury (via Cribbs Causeway and Bristol Parkway trian station). For more information contact First Bus on 0345 646 0707.

We will have volunteers at the bottom of the drive to assist.

By car

Sat Nav postcode – BS34 7RF – this brings you to the top of the driveway of BAWA.

M5 Junction 16 – A38 Exit to Thornbury/Filton 4 miles / 10 minutes

By train

The nearest train station is Bristol Parkway and is a 2.4 mile/7 minute car journey to BAWA Leisure. Bristol Temple Meads located in the centre of Bristol is a 4.7 mile/18 minute car journey. Taxis are available at both stations.

The Y6 bus also stops at Bristol Parkway and will take you directly to BAWA.
